Only two local athletes were in action at Day 2 of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, Thursday.

Both Seth Pilkington and Morgan Haws of Weber State placed in the finals of the men's and women's 10,000-meter run. Pilkington placed fifth in the men's with a time of 28 minutes and 51.81 seconds to earn four team points for the Wildcats. On the women's side, Haws finished in seventh place with her time of 34:05.56, which scored two points for the Weber State women.

Day three will be today with finals in several events. BYU's Leif Arrhenius will enter the men's discus competition after advancing in Wednesday's preliminary round with a second-best throw of the preliminaries.
