A handful of downtown workers complained of nausea and a major intersection was closed for about an hour as crews repaired a broken gas line Wednesday afternoon.

Construction workers digging with a backhoe broke the 3-inch main near South Temple and State just before 1 p.m., said Salt Lake Fire Capt. Karleen Montanez.

No one was evacuated, but about 10 people were treated for nausea and other symptoms, Montanez said. The intersection was reopened by 2 p.m., she said.
