Eric Wadley (Readers' Forum, June 5) is suggesting that we should be willing to accept Barack Obama because of his proposed "changes," but we really don't know how he wants to change. As far as the references to the Book of Mormon, the Nephite leaders were not ready for change, other than for becoming more righteous.
For instance, Alma became "sickened" because of the changes from righteous activities to the opposite. The Nephites were living in a true theocracy, so, at times, the chief judge was also the chief priest. Now, if we could see that kind of change in government, and the religious principles were proper, I could accept it. However, the changes Obama wants to make are toward socialism, not a free economy.
