Yesterday, while driving, I noticed the current price of gasoline (almost $4) with general indifference. Later though, I decided to let others in on a secret before Utah residents start selling their souls in exchange for filling their tanks. It's very simple. Drive a CNG (compressed natural gas) car.
I pay 63 cents a gallon. I drive a Honda Civic GX. I get 30 mpg like other Hondas. As far as power goes, I've been pulled over for speeding twice recently, so power is not a problem.
There are fewer fuel stations, but they are very well placed throughout the state. I know of several along my commute. Stop by one and talk to an owner of a CNG car. Once you start paying for gas with pocket change, you'll be dancing, too.
