SOFTBALL SUMMER SEASON BEGINS: Just a day after the state's high school tournaments ended, many teams open summer play at the Ice Breaker in Roy. The Sting, a 16-under team finished 5-1 in that tournament and won the championship 10-9 against the Twisters. The Sting had to score seven runs to earn the come-from-behind victory.

Those on the roster of the Sting are: Jaden Anderson, Davis; Taylor Austin, Bountiful; Kelli Fox, Woods Cross; Morgan Brown, Woods Cross; Jill Esparza, Davis; Dani MacKay, Davis; Jaclyn Mills, Viewmont; McKenzy MacKay, Davis; Megan Peay, Viewmont; Ali Smith, Davis; Taylor Craven, Uintah.

TWO MORE PREPS SIGN WITH DIXIE STATE: Baillie Hickens, Lone Peak, and Kylee Higgins, Layton, both signed letters of intent to play softball for Dixie State College. The outfielder and catcher, respectively, will join Tooele pitcher Lauren Folta and her teammate Kelsey Mendenhall on next year's line-up. Spanish Fork infielder and pitcher Whitney Holm also signed last fall with Dixie State.
