April 3: The FLDS Church's YFZ Ranch near Eldorado, Texas, is raided by state Child Protective Services workers. More than 400 children are taken into custody; many mothers stay with them.

April 17: The phone call that triggered the raid may have been a ruse; a Colorado woman is arrested.

April 22: The state begins moving the children to foster care homes and facilities.

May 19: Custody hearings — expected to take weeks — begin for each affected family.

May 22: The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Austin rules that Child Protective Services acted improperly and with insufficient evidence when authorities took all 400-plus children from the ranch.

May 23: CPS appeals the ruling to the Texas Supreme Court.
