A 38-year-old man broke his leg in a four-wheeler accident today in Butterfield Canyon while surveying property for Kennecott.
The vehicle flipped when the man tried to go up a hill that was too steep, according to law enforcement officers. Because of the rugged terrain, rescue was difficult, and an air ambulance was called to respond.
An on-site EMT for Kennecott reached the victim first, situated him on a backboard and helped carry him to a landing site, where the helicopter took him to an area hospital, said Sgt. Clay Hansen of the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office.
