Utah County Memorial Day events

• Alpine — 7 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial in the Alpine Cemetery, 450 N. Grove Drive. Following the ceremony a community pancake breakfast will be held at the city shops (directly south of the cemetery. Donations will be accepted.

• American Fork — 6 to 10 a.m. a Memorial Day Breakfast will be served at the American Fork Fire/Rescue department at 96 N. Center. Cost is $5/$3 children. At 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial within the cemetery, 600 N. Center, a program will feature guest speakers from Sgt. Nathan Barnes' family. The program will also feature the American Fork High School jazz band with military honors by 1457th Engineer Combat Battalion and VFW Post 4918. In case of bad weather, the program will move to the Fitness Center, 454 N. Center.

• Camp Floyd State Park — Camp Floyd State Park in conjunction with the Utah Civil War Association will host a Civil War encampment May 24-26. The event will allow visitors to experience camp life and participate in activities performed by soldiers of Johnston's Army, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Monday. Standard museum entrance fee of $3/$6 family applies. Food concessions available. Camp Floyd is located 22 miles southwest of Lehi on state Highway 73. Call 768-8932.

• Eagle Mountain — 7 p.m., a free family concert at the SilverLake amphitheater, 7920 N. SilverLake Parkway, performed by Y Mountain Productions (BYU students) in a presentation called "Good Two Shoes," featuring pop, rock, country, jazz, folk and acoustic music. Also appearing is an a cappella group "Impact." Eagle Mountain will celebrate Military Appreciation Week. City officials are collecting donations for care packages to be sent to local deployed military personnel. Donation boxes will be available May 27-30 at City Hall, Eagle Mountain Elementary, Pony Express Elementary and the Ranches Academy, also at the Memorial Day concert and the Home for a Hero event May 30.

• Lehi — 9-11 a.m., Lehi Cemetery, 1100 N. 400 East, sponsored by Lehi American Legion Post 19 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4918. In case of bad weather, program moves to the Legacy Center north gym, 123 N. Center.

• Orem — 9 a.m. at the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 N. 800 East. The guest speaker will be Brig. Gen. Jefferson Burton, assistant adjutant general with the Utah National Guard. The Orem High School band will provide the music. The Orem American Legion Post 72 will present the flag detail and color guard. Prior to the event there will be an Apache helicopter fly-in at 8:30 a.m.

• Pleasant Grove — 9 a.m. flag-raising ceremony and program at the Memorial Gardens in the cemetery, 100 E. 500 North.
