It was with sadness that I read in the Deseret News of the passing of Elder J. Thomas Fyans, emeritus member of the Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I never personally met Elder Fyans, but our family was touched by his kindness years ago when our house burned and we lost our possessions. Upon hearing of our situation from his daughter, who lived in our area, he immediately gave his daughter several of his suits two of which he had just purchased for himself and still had their tags to give to my husband. This kind and generous offering was known only to our family. My husband gratefully wore these suits for many years.
This good man taught good principles by word and by action. He leaves behind many wonderful descendants who also emulate his example.
