A West Valley man accused of trading beer to students at Brighton High School for pornographic pictures has been arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.

Brian Scott Hansen, 49, was arrested late Wednesday and booked for investigation of five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, all second-degree felonies, and five counts of supplying alcohol to minors.

Hansen, a temporary or seasonal employee at Brighton High School, 2220 E. Bengal Blvd., was supplying alcohol to juveniles in exchange for pictures of male genitalia, according to jail documents.

Hansen told investigators the pictures were of the genitals of the boys he supplied beer to, and he had the names of the boys on the back of their photos, jail documents state. Detectives, however, were still conducting interviews Friday to determine whether the pictures were of the actual boys who received beer or if the boys provided the man with pornographic pictures from another source, such as downloads off the Internet.

Investigators did not believe Hansen used a camera to take any of the pictures himself, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Jaroscak.

Hansen worked as a score keeper and time keeper at different events for Brighton High School. He had been on the payroll from September of 2006 until last month. But he reportedly had been a fixture at Brighton sporting events for years, possibly anywhere between 17 to 20 years, according to school officials and the sheriff's office.

"He came to almost every sporting event we had. He was at the state tennis tournament just last Friday," said Brighton principal Rebecca Laney.

Although the investigation started off involving a handful of juveniles from Brighton, the sheriff's office said Friday it was looking into the possibility of more students being involved.

Laney said as of Friday, the investigation was completely in the hands of the sheriff's office.

"I don't even know who the students are. They have not been identified to me," Laney said. "There is no indication any rules were broken on school property. If it comes to light there has been illegal activity on campus, we will follow school policy accordingly."

Nevertheless, she said she was greatly concerned about the allegations.

"It makes me sick. It makes me disgusted," she said. "It makes me feel very protective toward my students. It's the worst nightmare for any school employee that a predator has had some access to your students," Laney said.

"There was no reason to believe he was suspicious," the principal said. "A lot of folks like to come to sporting events."
