Two district court judges and a judge on the Utah Court of Appeals will be retiring Dec. 31, 2008, and the state is seeking applications for these positions.
Vacancies will occur in:
• The 4th Judicial District, which includes Juab, Millard, Utah and Wasatch counties, when Judge John Backlund retires.
• The 6th Judicial District, which includes Garfield, Kane, Piute, Sanpete, Sevier and Wayne counties, with the retirement of Judge David Mower.
• The Court of Appeals, which represents the entire state, upon the retirement of Judge Judith Billings.
A candidate for these posts must be at least 30 years old, a U.S. citizen, a Utah resident for at least five years and able to practice law in this state.
