DENZEL TO JARRON: Jazz backup center Jarron Collins is from the Los Angeles area, so he had a lot of friends and family at Wednesday's game at Staples Center — and actually got to play in front of them.

"I had plenty of fans, plenty of friends and family, a couple of them sitting courtside, some family friends sitting courtside," said Collins at Thursday's practice.

Collins who played 11 minutes Wednesday — his first extended court time in the '08 playoffs — and got an acknowledgement from actor Denzel Washington, who was in the crowd.

"When I checked in, and there was a free throw," Collins added, "Denzel actually pointed at me.

"His children go to my old high school (Harvard Westlake in North Hollywood), and he knows my mother pretty well."

KUTCHER TO KORVER: To promote his new movie "What Happens in Vegas," actor Ashton Kutcher — who has an uncanny resemblance to Jazz guard Kyle Korver — did a commercial interview that aired during Wednesday night's Jazz-Lakers broadcast on TNT.

Korver said he didn't see fellow Iowan Kutcher — an admitted sports fan who dropped "MVP" references during talk of Kobe Bryant and the Lakers during the interview.

"He probably doesn't come to the game on purpose to avoid questions about me," said Korver at Thursday's Jazz practice.

Kutcher told ESPN he doesn't hear the look-alike questions as much as Korver does.

"You know what? I hit the big stage before Kyle Korver did, so I don't think I get it as much as he does," Kutcher said. "He's a couple years younger than me."

But Kutcher is well aware of the resemblance. "He's my doppelganger," he said to ESPN about the Jazzman.

HEAT OF THE MOMENT: Jazz coach Jerry Sloan was slapped with a technical foul for words he had for an official during the Game 2 loss. So, what was bothering Sloan so much?

"The heat," Sloan said. "I don't like hot weather."

FOUL PLAY?: In the first round, Houston coach Rick Adelman asked the NBA to review refereeing in Rockets-Jazz games because he was so upset by what he felt was lopsided officiating in the Utah's favor. Sloan didn't hand any evidence over to NBA commissioner David Stern while they were both in Los Angeles, but numbers suggest he might have had a reason to do so.
