RENO, Nev. — Deonte Burton hit an off-balance 3-pointer with 11.2 seconds left as Nevada rallied to beat Utah State 53-52 on Thursday, tying a program record with its 16th consecutive victory.
Malik Story scored 18 points and Burton added 13 for the Wolf Pack (19-3, 8-0 Western Athletic).
Preston Medlin had 15 points and Brockeith Pane 12 for the Aggies (12-11, 4-4).
Utah State had taken a 52-50 lead on a layup by Pane with 2:07 left and held it until the final seconds. Devonte Elliott blocked a mid-range jumper by Ben Clifford with 27 seconds left to give the Wolf Pack its winning possession.
Burton was falling to his knees as the 3-pointer went in.
Utah State had a final attempt, but Elliott blocked Morgan Grim's layup attempt with 1.4 seconds left to preserve the victory.
The 16-game winning streak ties the 1965-66 Nevada team for the longest in school history.
