WEST VALLEY CITY — Hunter High has its fourth head coach in just one year and it's a familiar face.
Scott Henderson, who was an assistant at Hunter when the Wolverines won the 5A state title in 2003 and who coached last year at Cyprus, is the program's new leader.
Henderson spent the afternoon in meetings with players, who are eager for a committed coach after a roller-coaster year. After Dustin Pearce left Hunter last year, the Wolverines hired former Alta head coach Les Hamilton, who led a struggling squad to a 3-7 record and then left the school to take the head coaching job at Pleasant Grove High.
Hunter administrators hired Tim Murphy, who resigned the very week he was supposed to start teaching at the school. Henderson is a graduate of SUU and has coached football for 27 years. He's coached at Parowan, Granite, Hunter, Taylorsville and Cyprus.
He currently teaches physical education and weight training at Cyprus High.
