Neil C Stephens1933 ~ 2012Neil C Stephens died of melanoma cancer on January 28, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 21, 1933 in Bennington, Idaho. He was raised in Nampa, Idaho. He graduated from Nampa High School where he was Student Body President. Neil was an all-star athlete excelling in basketball and baseball. He still holds the conference title in most points scored in a basketball season. In 2010 Neil was inducted into the Nampa High School Hall of Fame. He attended BYU and played both on their basketball and baseball teams. He was voted outstanding freshman basketball player for the 1951-52 season. He was honored with an all-church basketball award in 1960. He married Udean Bailey in 1953 and was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. The Lord gave them 4 children, Denise (deceased), Scott (Jean), Jack (Cindy), and Dee (Shelly); 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He loved them all dearly. Neil was active in the LDS church, serving mostly as a teacher which he loved doing. He was employed by Associated Foods as a grocery buyer. He was preceded in death by his daughter, parents, sister Kathryn and brother Darwin. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce (Dorian) Hatch. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 1st at 11 a.m. at the River Ridge 1st Ward, 10124 So. 1300 W., South Jordan. There will be a viewing Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, and again Wednesday 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery.www.goffmortuary.com
