Lenard Donzie Thompson, Jr.Will Be MissedOn Jan 6, 2012, Lenard Donzie Thompson, Jr. was called home to his Father in Heaven after suffering for many years with serious health problems. The last 8 months of his life, he was blessed with a roommate, Ron, who became his best friend and guardian angel.Lenard was an exceptional mechanic and troubleshooter. He loved to teach others how to fix their own cars and he was a tireless worker until his health issues forced him into early retirement in 1999.Over the course of his lifetime he was involved in the Scouting program and was an elementary school classroom helper. Much to the little children's delight, he also did an amazingly accurate impression of Donald Duck.He was dedicated to his LDS faith and had recently completed reading the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine & Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price, which was a source of great strength to him during this last phase of his life.He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth, and five sons: Sawyer of Kaysville; Scott (Tanya) of Fairbanks, Alaska; Jamie, also of Kaysville; Shannon (Nikki) of Seward, Alaska and Chris, also of Alaska. Also his father, Lenard Thompson, Sr. of North Carolina, his mother, Jean Francis Daughtry of North Carolina, his brothers Jerry and Mike Thompson, both of North Carolina and over a dozen grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and aunts and uncles. The family would like to thank the staff of Hearts for Hospice, especially nurses Sarah and Cage and CNA Amber for their kind and compassionate care. They would also like to thank the many CNAs, nurses and other staff members at Mountain View Health Services, especially nurses Connie, Heather, Mandie and CNA's Pauline and Jesus for all the wonderful care they gave him. We will always be grateful to Dr. Harry Senekjian and Dr. Jerry John and his nurse Michelle for their honesty, compassion and dedication.Funeral services Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 1 p.m., at the Crestwood LDS Stake Center, 855 East Mutton Hollow Road in Kaysville where friends and family may call on Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday 11:45 12:45 p.m. prior to the services.
