Nick J. Rodriguez1927 ~ 2012Nick J. Rodriguez passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 4, 2012. He was born on April 27, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jose Paulin and Aurelia Juarez Rodriguez. He graduated from West high school and attended the University of Utah. Nick served in the Navy during the Korean war. He married Renee Ostler on May 11, 1956. They were sealed for time and all eternity on May 11, 1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Nick was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 31 and was always deeply grateful for the blessings of the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout his life. He served in many Church callings including counselor in the stake mission presidency, counselor in the bishopric, bishop, branch president, and temple ordinance worker. He served three full-time missions with his sweet wife to Barcelona and Madrid Spain and Laie, Hawaii and one part-time mission. Nick loved to golf and spend time with family and friends at the family cabin. He greatly enjoyed attending his grandchildren's many dance, sports, music and school activities. He was so proud of his family.He is survived by his wife, Renee Ostler Rodriguez; children, Sandra (Dave) Ochsenhirt, Susan (Scott) Walters, Steven (Julie) Rodriguez, Brian (Lisa) Rodriguez; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Funeral services will be Monday, January 9, 2012 at 12:00 pm at the Winder 5th Ward meetinghouse at 1361 E. 4000 South. Viewings will be held on Sunday evening 5:30-7:30 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr. and Monday prior to the funeral service from 10:30-11:30 am at the Winder 5th ward. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Perpetual Education Fund of the LDS Church.
