MURRAY — A Murray house fire caused an estimated $80,000 in damage Monday and displaced two families.
Fire officials said a fire in home at 791 E. Deerfield Rd. began in a basement apartment in the home and spread to the upper floor. The call came in around 2 p.m.
There was a significant amount of both smoke and flame damage both in the basement and in the main level of the house," said Mike Dykman, battalion chief with Murray Fire.
The two families who live at the home are staying with relatives in the meantime. An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way, Dykman said, and they have yet to determine a cause.
