Obituary: PEERY, DALE

Dale Peery1935 ~ 2011Dale Peery, 76, of Spanish Fork, returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father Dec. 28, 2011. He was born Oct. 22, 1935 to Earl Joseph and Margaret Kerr Peery in Payson, Utah. He graduated from Payson High School and served in the Central States Mission for the LDS Church. Dale also served in the U.S. Army being a member of the Army Reserve for many years. He attended Snow College and played football there. He transferred to BYU and worked for the security police while completing his education. Upon graduation, he was an educator and coach at Lehi Junior High School for 31 years, where he taught health and coached various school sports.He married his eternal companion, Linda Hanks Peery on Sep. 1, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. They celebrated 50 happy years together this fall. They have 3 wonderful children: Alan, Jeff (Julie), and Jennifer (Greg) Hammond. They also have 6 beautiful grandchildren: Emily and Tessa Peery; Jake, Brooklyn, Zach, and Lucas Hammondall whom Dale adored dearly.He served in many callings in the LDS Church including bishopric counselor, bishop, high councilor, stake mission president, and stake sunday school president. He always fulfilled his role of home teacher. His greatest love in church service was serving as an ordinance worker and baptistery worker in the Provo Temple for the past 15 years. He had a strong and inspiring testimony of our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. He served the youth of the community as a member of the Spanish Fork Kiwanis Club for numerous years.He always had time to help anyonewhether it was his incredible strength when he was young and healthy, or his listening ear, wonderful smile, caring and compassionate advice in later years; and we must not forget his jokes because he loved to bring a smile to people's faces!He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren. He was presided in death by his parents, parents-in-laws, and siblings Rex, Glen (Sam), and Ruth Marie Robertson.Special thanks to Dr. I Scott Eppich, Lori, Steve, Lindsey, Melissa, and Kade. Services are Monday January 2 at 11am at the Spanish Fork Stake Center, 1002 E. 200 South, Spanish Fork. Viewing is Sunday at Walker Mortuary, 187 S. Main Street, Spanish Fork, from 6-8pm, and on Monday at the church from 9:45-10:45am. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork Cemetery with military honors provided by The American Legion.
