Carla A. Smith"My Pocahontas"WEST VALLEY CITYOur beloved wife (my Pocahontas) and aunt Carla Allen Smith passed away Friday, December 23rd , 2011 in her home at the age of 59. Carla was born August 24th, 1952 to Carl Hunter Allen and Deon Sharp Allen in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from South High School and attended college (though her family does not recall which one), before marrying John G. Smith Jr., September 12, 1985. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple. Her marriage to John Smith and love of all things Disney earned her the nickname "Pocahontas" from family and friends. Carla possessed a sweet and loving soul, whose kindness touched all whom she encountered. Although never blessed with children, she doted on her nieces and nephews as her own. Carla is survived by her husband John G. Smith Jr., her sister Linda Allen, her brother Paul L. (Nancy) Jensen, her nephew Nathan P. (Kim) Jensen, her niece Katherine N. (Grayson) Sells, and the Jensen Children: Whitney, Leesa, Domanic, Alex, Alexis, Faith, Aspen, Sesi, Jaxson, Jazmen, and Tanner. Carla's love taught us that blood is meaningless; it is the love in our hearts that matters. A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29th at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street Murray, UT 84107. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30th at Jordan North 1st Ward, 3900 South 4000 West in West Valley City, UT, with a viewing at the church one hour prior to services. The burial will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South Sandy, UT.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, located at Fairfax Road Virginia Street Salt Lake City, UT 84103, a favorite charity of Carla's. The family wishes to express our gratitude to our friends, the members Jordan North 1st Ward, and Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Services for their support and condolences during this time.
