Role: Shooting guard can earn early minutes with energetic defense and driving abilities while outside shot improves.

Role: Forward's reliable instant energy, insane jumping abilities and fun attitude should earn him must-watch minutes.

Role: Point guard has blazing speed and a scoring instinct, and his commitment to improved offensive execution could pay nice dividends.

Role: Guard/forward looks to pick up where he left off as rookie, giving team added outside shooting, defense and athleticism.

Quote: "Excited, ready to get this under way — definitely. After watching the games (Sunday), it makes you want to play basketball. It'll be good to finally start playing."

9th season; 31 years old

Role: Small forward has a new lease on life, and Jazz could reap big rewards by taking a gamble on the intriguing and explosive scorer.

Quote: "One thing I do expect is we've got to go out and play hard no matter what the situation is."

Role: Center dedicated himself to rigorous offseason training to become a more versatile, athletic weapon on both ends of the court.

Role: Center might not make many friends in the league this season the way he creates ruckus and rebounds.

Role: Guard/forward has been inconsistent at times, but his camp showing shows he might be maturing into a reliable two-way player.

Quote: "I definitely feel comfortable. I feel like I definitely know enough where I can help this team and help us continue to grow."

6th season; 26 years old

Role: Power forward's lunch-pail, blue-collar mentality has helped him become a force to be reckoned with in the paint.

Quote: "(My) mindset is to get out there and play, get out there more relaxed, have fun with it and hopefully good things will come from it."

9th season; 33 years old

Role: Point guard sat out the 2010-11 season, but his fitness and natural passing skills give the Jazz a deep playmaker rotation.

Quote: "It's just another day I can get better as a basketball player and as a person. Who wouldn't want to play in the NBA?"

Role: Point guard chose to return to Utah this offseason, and the Jazz are eager to benefit from his steadiness on and off the court.

Quote: "It's a unique team as far as individual personalities. No one really cares who gets the credit. It's going to be a long season. We have to maintain that mentality."
