CEDAR CITY — Southern Utah's Bo Cuthbertson was selected to the NCBWA Preseason All-American First-Team this week, garnering the first of what may be many awards for the senior shortstop this season.

The switch-hitting slugger is set to enter his final year at SUU, where he has already cemented his place in the school's record books and is coming off a junior season that saw him earn recognition as the Summit League Player of the Year as well as a spot on the Louisville Slugger All-America Baseball Team, the College Baseball Lineup 2011 D1 All-Star Team and the American Baseball Coaches Association Midwest All-Region Second Team.

The Glendale, Ariz., native was also a quarterfinalist for the prestigious Brooks Wallace Award, which recognizes the nation's top shortstop after turning in one of the most productive seasons in Southern Utah baseball history. As a junior Cuthbertson posted the third highest single season batting average (.432), the third most hits (83), as well as the second highest total in doubles (20) and triples (7). His batting average was also the fifth best mark in the nation and he was also among the nation's leaders in triples, slugging percentage (.688) and on base percentage (.496).
