Reita Stella Jerman LatteierAug. 19, 1920 ~ Dec. 3, 2011Reita completed her life in mortality and returned to her Heavenly Father on December 3, 2011. She was born August 19, 1920 in Santaquin, UT to Reid and Ruth Jenkins Jerman. Reita was married to Willard C. Latteier June 15, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple by Harold B. Lee.She attended the Whittier Elementary School, South Junior High School, and graduated from East High School in 1937 with high honors and also graduated from East High School LDS Seminary.On her seventeenth birthday her father wrote her a note which read, "This gift to you, the best girl anyone ever had."She then attended the University of Utah and graduated with a bachelor's degree in education with honors of Magna Cum Laude. Reita also graduated from the LDS Institute of Religion where she was active in Lambda Delta Sigma Sorority.Reita and Willard moved to Michigan where Willard received his Master's degree from Wayne University. After schooling they moved back to Salt Lake. Reita taught elementary school in Salt Lake and later in DeKalb County, Georgia. During World War II they lived in Fort Wayne, IN and Pueblo, CO. Willard served in the medical corps as a social worker.Reita had many social friends who often met together for lunch or dinner and also for many years she met with them monthly in a sewing club.They enjoyed their winter home in Arizona where they could get out of the cold. They enjoyed letting their son Gary drive the golf cart in the streets of their community.Reita was preceded in death by her daughter Ann, January 31, 1961, and by her husband Willard, May 7, 2007. She is survived by her son Gary and her brother Harvey Jerman.Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple. Friends and family may attend a viewing from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
