Summary

Facing the top scorer in the country, and facing the team that had been widely considered the best in the state, BYU was highly motivated for Wednesday night's game against Weber State.

  • BYU routs Weber State, 94-66

“BYU shot 64 percent (21-of-33) from the floor in the second half while Weber State shot just 34 percent during that span.”

"They did a really good job on Damian. They're big, they're strong and they're old. Their length made it really hard for us," he said. "They stayed with him and trapped him. They gave him a lot of attention with great length and great size. I don't think Damian forced much but I thought defensively they played really solid and were very aware of him and where he was on the court."

With the win, the Cougars improved to 19-0 all-time at home against the Wildcats.

"It's something you want to keep. You always want to keep an undefeated record," Hartsock said. "We focused on coming out here, being aggressive and doing the things we needed to win and keep that streak."

BYU faces another in-state opponent on Saturday when the Cougars visit Utah.

NOTES: Announced attendance was 11,676. … Fredette sat behind the BYU bench at Wednesday's game. He is close to starting his NBA career. … BYU had the inside advantage, outscoring Weber State, 42-22, in the paint. … Point guard Craig Cusick came off the bench to dish out a career-high eight assists. … The Cougars tallied nine blocked shots against the Wildcats, including three apiece by Hartsock and Davies. … BYU has now won eight of its last nine games.

Great job Cougars! Now it's finally time for Utah. Let's try to get more Cougar fans than Utes at the Huntsman Center on Saturday. Who's with me?!

I, too, can't believe Rahe went for the stale "These guys are OLD" excuse. Here are the facts, coach: Average age of BYU starter = 21.4; average Weber starter = 21.6. Also, Weber State has 5 freshmen on their squad, while BYU has NINE. More..

That game may have been more fun to watch than Fredette pouring in 40+ last year. To see the entire team shoot lights out and play suffocating defense was really fun. Austin is extremely impressive, 6'10, athletic, coordinated, and extremely More..
