Phillip James Woodard 1916 ~ 2011Phillip James Woodard, age 94, devoted and much loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and friend, passed away November 26, 2011. He was born December 5, 1916 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles J and Mayme Shore Woodard. Married Pearl Delores Ericksen, February 6, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a loving husband and father to his family. During World War II, he and Pearl moved the family to Portland, OR, where he was a warship welder at the naval shipyards. He also taught welding there. Later they moved to California, where he was a welder for Food Machinery Corporation and United Airlines while they lived in Sunnyvale, CA. He loved to play the clarinet and saxophone and played in several dance bands. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a good example of Christian living all of his life. Phil is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his children, Roxie (Carmen) Bria, Sonia (Iren) Leavitt, Eric (Julie) Woodard, 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Pearl, parents, daughter Leitha, and sister Phyllis. A viewing will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011, 9:30-10:45 AM and funeral services at 11:00 AM, both at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, UT. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
