Women's basketball: Utah State's streak stopped

MISSOULA, Mont — Despite the fourth double-double of the season by senior forward Ashlee Brown, the Utah State women's basketball team had its four-game winning halted at the University of Montana on Wednesday, 61-60.

Brown led the Aggies (5-2) with 14 points and 12 rebounds. She also added four steals and three assists in the loss. Senior guard Brooke Jackson added 14 points for USU, while junior guard Devyn Christensen had her third double-figure scoring game with 12 points. The Aggies were outrebounded 44-35.

A strong second half made Katie Baker the leading scorer for the Lady Griz (3-3). Baker scored 10 of her 12 points in the last 20 minutes of the game. Jordan Sullivan knocked in 10 points for Montana as the Lady Griz improve to 7-2 against Utah State.

SOUTHERN UTAH 80, UTAH VALLEY 65: At Cedar City, freshman point guard Hailey Mandelko had a game-high 23 points, finishing the game 4 of 8 from behind the arc and 7 for 7 at the free-throw line. Carli Moreland (17) and DJ Norman (10) both had a career highs. Freshman Taylor Huber came off the bench to score a career-high 15 points to lead Utah Valley (2-3). Junior center Erica Newbold added 14 points.
