Helen Whitaker Pinnell Perich1920 ~ 2011Helen Whitaker Pinnell Perich, age 91, passed away on November 14, 2011 in Midvale, Utah. She was born on March 10, 1920 in Brigham City, UT, to Lorus William Whitaker & Josephine O. Whitaker. The family moved to Los Angeles where she grew up with her three brothers, Harold, Douglas & Richard. Helen married George William Lewis "Lu" Pinnell on September 28, 1940 in Montebello, CA. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage until he passed away in 1980. Helen married John Perich on May 5, 1990, and they had 20 happy years together traveling & enjoying both families. After graduating Garfield High School, Helen attended Frank Wiggins Trade School earning a degree in Tailoring. She met Lu while working as a window dresser for Desmond's department store. They were married at her parent's home; later sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Helen was an accomplished couture dressmaker, had a wedding cake business along with numerous callings in Relief Society & Primary while being a creative & devoted wife & mother. She was instrumental in starting the Cub Scouts in the LDS Primary program in Southern California. She was a passionate member of Belle Lettres & Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Helen will be remembered for her kindness & unyielding generosity, always considering the needs of others before herself. She is preceded in death by her husbands, three brothers, & grandson, Michael Lane Pinnell. Helen is survived by her children: Richard T. Pinnell (Piedad), Michael L. Pinnell (Lorraine), & Susan J. Gautier (James); 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, & many nieces & nephews who she absolutely adored.
