SALT LAKE CITY — A family emergency left the Utah Jazz without a representative at Monday's NBPA meeting, which resulted in the players' union disbanding and rejecting the owners' latest offer.

Jazz team rep Raja Bell, who's attended previous meetings, was a late scratch and couldn't join players from most of the 30 teams who voted to proceed with a "disclaimer of interest" in New York.

"He was in NYC for the meeting," Bell's agent, Herb Rudoy, wrote in an email, "but had to return to Florida due to a complication with his wife's pregnancy."

Portland and Sacramento also went unrepresented, according to Sports Illustrated's Sam Amick.
