Cecile Houston Orton4/19/1922 ~ 11/14/2011Our most beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, Cecile Houston Orton passed away peacefully on November 14th at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 89. She was born April 19, 1922 in Panguitch, Utah to James Frank and Roene Syrett Houston. She was the sixth of 12 children, blessed with six sisters and five brothers. She had a happy childhood with her siblings, Irene, Jay, Fern, Dee, Opal, Ray, Sam, Roene, Zelda and Christine. One sibling, Hoover, died in infancy. Cecile graduated from Panguitch High School and attended Utah State University and LDS Business College.Cecile married Ammon Frank Orton on November 12, 1943 in Panguitch, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George temple. She was an active member of the LDS church serving in various callings. She was blessed with a quick wit and an amazing sense of humor, and was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends and hated being alone. Her family was her pride and joy and she loved the times she spent with them. She liked to brag about her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always there for them. Cecile gave of her time and love unconditionally and was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She lived a full and meaningful life with many gifts and artistic talents including playing the piano and organ, sewing, quilting, dipping chocolates and creating beautiful oil paintings. She loved spending summertimes in her beloved Panguitch, visiting on her front porch with family and friends.Cecile is survived by her husband, Frank, two children, Ron (Kathy) Orton, Olivia (Dave) Worthen, brother Sam Houston, sisters, Roene Nelson, Zelda Gerstner and Christine Owens, 10 grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, six great step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Jay, Dee, Hoover, Ray and sisters, Irene, Fern, and Opal.Funeral services will be Friday November 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy. (10600 S) with viewings Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services on Friday.
