Don Ross Whitmore1932 2011Don Ross Whitmore, 78, passed away on November 8, 2011, with his wife at his side. Don was born December 19, 1932, in Eureka, Utah, to Onel and Emma Cushing Whitmore. He married his sweetheart, Annette Summers, in the Salt Lake Temple on December 29, 1958.Don was a man of strong faith, belief, and action. He often presented a tough exterior but was actually full of tender and deep feelings. He loved his family and was proud of their lives and accomplishments. He was a builder by trade and believed that a job was worth doing right. He served his country and saw fierce fighting during the Korean War. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church, served a mission to the Great Lakes, and diligently fulfilled many callings. He was passionate about sports as a football player and later as a fan of the BYU Cougars and Utah Jazz.Don is survived by his wife of 52 years, Annette; their children, Deanne (Neil), Allison, Laura (Brett) of Orem; Carolyn (Brad), David (Lisa) of Sandy; 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Sam Whitmore; a sister, Bettie Lessig; and a large extended family. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Karen; his parents, a brother and two sisters.Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Holladay Stake Center, 4568 S. Holladay Blvd, Salt Lake City, UT. Viewings will be held Friday, November 11, 2011, from 6:30 8:30 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT, and again on Saturday, November 12, 2011, from 9:30 10:30 am at the church.
