Mary "Lorraine" Selin McElhiney1918 ~ 2011Mary "Lorraine" McElhiney passed away, Tuesday, November 08, 2011. She was born August 15, 1918 in Herriman, Utah to Henry Robert and Lucy Marinda Butterfield Selin. Lorraine was raised in Salt Lake City and was a graduate of Granite High School. She has been a faithful member of the LDS Church.Lorraine married Ross Howard in 1936 in the Salt Lake City, LDS Temple. They had four children, Vivian, Lynda, Evelyn and Sam. Ross passed away in 1957. Lorraine married Paul Richard McElhiney, in Phoenix, AZ on February 26, 1971.Lorraine has always been a very hard worker. While in Salt Lake City she worked for Carpenter Paper Co., managing accounts and filling orders, for over 20 years. She worked especially hard in buying, remodeling and reselling homes with her husband Paul.She very much enjoyed all kinds of dancing, from Square dancing to Ballroom Dancing. Lorraine enjoyed gardening. All of Lorraine's homes had beautiful flower gardens. Golfing and traveling to visit various family members, were other favorite pass times of Lorraine's. Lorraine and Paul lived in many cities and states. In 1989, they moved to Tempe AZ, and later to Leisure World, Mesa, AZ where they lived for 13 years and enjoyed golfing. In 2002, their moves brought them to St. George, Utah, to be closer to family. There they have remained, enjoying the Sun River Community.Lorraine is survived by her husband, Paul Richard McElhiney, St. George, UT; Her children, Vivian (Eric) Deets , Huntsville, AL;, Lynda(Dave)Jackman, Central Valley, UT; Paul's children, William(Paula)McElhiney, Monson, MA; Elizabeth(Michael)Keating, Worchester, MA; Gerard(Leslie) McElhiney, Santa Rosa, CA; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Delbert, Roland and Merle Selin.She was preceded in death by her daughter, Evelyn; her son, Sam; granddaughter, Jamie; and two brothers, Donald and Willis Selin.Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sun River, LDS Chapel. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30, Saturday, prior to services. Another visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Lindquist Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E., Bountiful, UT. Interment will be Monday, November 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bountiful City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, St. George, UT (435) 673-2454.
