INDIANAPOLIS — Kerry Collins came to Indianapolis to win a Super Bowl ring.

He may leave town without a win.

Two months after signing with the Colts, the 17-year veteran was placed on injured reserve with a concussion — a move that will definitely end his season, and possibly his NFL career.

It's been a strange year for Collins, who announced in July he was retiring, then was wooed out of retirement with a $4 million deal to be Peyton Manning's backup.

But when Manning had another neck surgery in early September, Collins was suddenly promoted to starter. And now, with Manning still not expected back at practice before December, it's Collins — not Manning — who is on injured reserve.

BUCS LOSE GRAHAM WITH TORN ACHILLES: Tampa Bay running back Earnest Graham will miss the remainder of the season because of a torn right Achilles' tendon.

Graham was injured during Sunday's 24-18 loss to Chicago in London. He's appeared in all seven games this season, starting the last two with LeGarrette Blount sidelined with a knee injury.

SEASON OVER FOR BILLS' MERRIMAN: The lights have been turned off on Buffalo Bills linebacker Shawne Merriman's season.

Merriman, who earned the nickname "Lights Out" when he was one of the NFL's most feared players, was placed on season-ending injured reserve on Tuesday because of a right Achilles' tendon injury. It's the same injury that forced the Bills to place him on IR last November after they signed him as a free agent following his release from the San Diego Chargers.

DOLPHINS SHUFFLE ROSTER AT QB: The Miami Dolphins' revolving door at quarterback spun anew Tuesday, when the team placed quarterback Sage Rosenfels on the reserve-non-football illness list and signed J.P. Losman, who last completed a pass in 2008.

A blood disorder sent Rosenfels to the hospital in August, and he said in a statement that he hasn't fully recovered.

"When I first joined the Dolphins, all tests showed that I was healthy and ready to go," Rosenfels said. "But after practicing for a few weeks, especially in the heat, some new indications made it obvious that I need to rest and allow my body to regain all requisite strength."

Rosenfels joined the team Oct. 6 after Chad Henne suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. The only other quarterback on the roster is Matt Moore, who this month became Miami's 16th starter at QB since Dan Marino retired.

Losman, a first-round draft choice in 2004, started 33 games in five seasons with the Bills, with 33 touchdown passes and 34 interceptions. He spent part of the 2010 season with the Seattle Seahawks but didn't play.

T.O. WORKS OUT, BUT NO NFL TEAMS ARE WATCHING: Terrell Owens' workout was watched by two television networks but no NFL teams.

The 37-year-old free-agent wide receiver participated in some drills and caught passes Tuesday outside Los Angeles in a showcase televised by ESPN and NFL Network. He tells ESPN "I definitely feel there are some teams out there that are interested."

Agent Drew Rosenhaus says on Twitter that he will be contacting teams Tuesday to tell them Owens "is immediately available to visit and work out for them. He could play this Sunday!"

Owens has been rehabilitating a left knee injury that required surgery. He played 14 games for Cincinnati last year, making 72 receptions with nine touchdowns.

VIKINGS' CORNERBACK FACES FELONY CHARGES: Minnesota Vikings cornerback Chris Cook was charged Tuesday with trying to strangle his girlfriend, leaving her with a bloody nose and lip in an alleged attack that jeopardizes his status with the team.
