Vida Giles Sailor1925 ~ 2011Vida Giles Sailor, loving wife, caring mother and devoted grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in Salt Lake City October 21, 2011. She was born in Heber City, Utah on September 23, 1925 to Oscar Y Giles and Clara Buhler Giles. Vida was the youngest of five children. She married her sweetheart, McClellan (Max) Franklin Sailor on April 29, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple on March 16, 1967. They spent sixty-five wonderful years together and never tired of each other's company. The core of their relationship was humor and sincere affection. To all who saw them, it was clear that they not only loved each other deeply, they liked each other a lot as well. Vida grew up in Heber City and graduated from Wasatch High School in 1944. She worked for the Granite School District for 20 years. She spent her spare time gardening and embroidering. She also loved vacationing with family and friends. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and gladly served as a primary teacher for many years. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and later with her great-grandchildren. She adored each of them and their presence in her life gave her immeasurable delight. Vida is survived by her husband, Max; her children, Bruce (Nancy) Sailor and Deborah Daniloff; four grandchildren, Heidi Sailor, Sara (Todd) Buttars, Brad (Jody) Sailor and Brittanie (James) Stevens; five great-grandchildren, Connor, Braxton, Miley, Baylee, and Tucker who is due to join the family in December; and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Clara Giles; sister, Beulah Alder; brothers, George, Morris and Ross Giles; and nephew, Stewart Giles.A viewing will be held Wednesday, October 26 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, Murray, Utah. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Thursday, October 27 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing to be held one hour prior. Interment will follow the funeral at Heber City Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Intermountain Healthcare for the tender care provided during Vida's final days.
