THE STAKES
For Idaho State . . . the Bengals are earning a big pay day regardless of the outcome, but a victory over a Football Bowl Subdivision opponent would be a monumental upset and a huge step for the program.
For BYU . . . the Cougars are trying to extend their winning streak to five games and are simply looking to improve on offense, defense and special teams.
THE TRENDS
For Idaho State . . . the Bengals haven't beaten an FBS opponent since a 27-24 win over Utah State in 2000. Since then, ISU is 0-15 against FBS foes.
For BYU . . . the Cougars are 4-0 all-time against FCS opponents, with the most recent coming in a 41-17 victory over Northern Iowa in 2008.
THE EDGE
Idaho State will win if . . . the Cougars completely collapse defensively against the Bengals' pass-happy offense and ISU can force a multitude of turnovers.
BYU will win if . . . the Cougars have a balanced attack on the ground and through the air and are able to execute the game plan.
PLAYER TO WATCH
JAKE HEAPS, BYU: Heaps, who started the season as the starter, could play today for the first time since Sept. 30 if the Cougars can get a big lead. How will Heaps respond?
KEY MATCHUP
BYU's SECONDARY VS. IDAHO STATE'S PASSING OFFENSE: The Cougars' secondary has been vulnerable to big passing plays this season. ISU boasts the No. 4 ranked passing offense in the FCS. Bengal quarterback Kevin Yost is No. 1 in the FCS in passing.
INJURY REPORT
IDAHO STATE: Offensive lineman Braeden Clayson (wrist) is out until the beginning of November.
BYU: Defensive linemen Hebron Fangupo (ankle) and Romney Fuga (knee sprain) are day-to-day. Linebacker Ezekiel Ansah (MCL sprain) is questionable. Tight end Richard Wilson underwent season-ending knee surgery earlier this week.
