Jay Ralph Worthington1935 ~ 2011Jay Ralph Worthington, born November 28, 1935, passed away on October 15, 2011 following an extended illness. Jay is the son of Charles Homer Worthington and Annie Charlotte Bolinder. Jay married Shirley Van Noy on June 14, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. Jay and Shirley are the parents of three children, grandparents to six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.Jay was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving as Executive Secretary in the Bishopric of the Grantsville First Ward, Elders Quorum President, and Ass't High Priest Group Leader. Jay and his wife Shirley served a service mission for the LDS Church at the Heber Valley Girls Camp. Jay especially enjoyed his calling as an Ordinance Worker in the Salt Lake Temple where he served for nine years.Jay was a successful cattle rancher and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Chemical Lime Company. He loved being in the outdoors, whether it was riding on his tractor or spending time with his family camping.The family would like to thank Dr. Trudell, Dr. Garr and all of the staff at Harmony Home Health for their loving care. Jay is survived by his wife of 56 years, his children Belinda (Bob) Butler, Jason Worthington and Dawnella Smith, his sister LaRae Kendall and many nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Ivan and Don. Services will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Grantsville West Stake Center, 115 East Cherry St. Grantsville, Utah. Services will be at 12:00 noon. A viewing will be held two hours prior to the services. Interment at the Grantsville City Cemetery. Services entrusted with Didericksen Memorial.
