Was: 1. Last week: Beat Pleasant Grove, 17-0. Outlook: Even though the offense stalled against P.G. last week, the defense recorded its first shutout since a Week 1 victory over Bountiful. Next up: at Riverton, Friday.

2. Alta (7-1)

Class: 5A

Was: 2. Last week: Beat Copper Hills, 51-0. Outlook: The Hawks have combined to beat Taft, Calif., Brighton and Copper Hills the past two weeks 128-0. Next up: at West Jordan, Friday.

3. Bingham (6-2)

Class: 5A

Was: 3. Last week: Beat American Fork, 35-7. Outlook: Scored three touchdowns of 90-plus yards last week as the Miners bounced back from Lone Peak loss with a convincing victory. Next up: at Lehi, Friday.

4. Jordan (7-1)

Class: 5A

Was: 4. Last week: Beat Cottonwood, 49-35. Outlook: Freshman QB Austin Kafentzis rushed for 279 yards and four TDs in a thrilling victory over Cottonwood last week. Next up: at Brighton, Friday.

Was: 5. Last week: Beat Bountiful, 27-0. Outlook: Took care of business against Bountiful last week, but bid for perfect regular season must still go through Highland and Logan. Next up: vs. Highland, Friday.

Was: 6. Last week: Beat Mountain Crest, 34-6. Outlook: Dominant defense took care of business against rival Mountain Crest last week as the Grizzlies remained undefeated. Next up: vs. Box Elder, Friday.

Was: 7. Last week: Lost to 0-0. Outlook: With two weeks to prepare, the Tigers should be at their best in region championship showdown with Desert Hills. Next up: at Desert Hills, Thursday.
