Eleonore Elfriede Lenz Dlugas1934 ~ 2011Our beloved wife,sweetheart, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister was called home to our Heavenly Father after a long and brave battle with cancer. She was a very loving and caring friend to many and was surrounded by her family as she valiantly went to the next life on Sept. 30th, 2011. Eleonore will be missed by all who knew her and especially, her husband of 55 years and family. She is a loving and kind person who always put her family first and showed great love and respect to everyone around her. She was born on Dec. 5th, 1934 in Berlin, Germany. Several years later, she met and married her best friend and sweetheart, Sigmund Dlugas in 1956. Their union was later sealed in the Switzerland LDS temple. She came to the United States with her husband and 2 children in 1965. In Germany, she learned the trade of seamstress and could sew anything just by looking at the item. She was a very giving and generous person and donated hundreds of quilts and other items to the LDS church's Humanitarian projects around the world. Eleonore was an active member of the LDS church where she served in many capacities. She has always lived life to its fullest and loved to spend time with her family and travel. She loved to go on cruises and was able to go on many with her husband and family. She and her husband were able to tour many great and marvelous places and she loved to see the world and meet new people. She is survived by her loving husband Sigmund, her daughter Ela (Gary) Jensen, and her son Ralph (Amanda) Dlugas, her mother and younger brother who still reside in Germany, as well as 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Detlef Dlugas and her father. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 11th, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Hillcrest 1st Ward Chapel, 8485 South 1000 East, Sandy. A viewing will be held on Monday evening, Oct. 10th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 106000 South, Sandy as well as 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Hillcrest 1st Ward Chapel, just prior to the funeral services. Interment will be in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Sandy, Utah. Special thanks to Utah Cancer Specialists, especially Dr. Kent Difiore, Timpanogos Regional Medical Center and Dr. Sean Curzon for their kind care to our wife, mom, and grandmother.
