Dixie hosts Cedar in their 82nd clash in the state's second most-played uninterrupted rivalry and 11th most-played overall. The Flyers hold a 47-39 series lead since 1949.
Provo and Springville meet for 71st time in another long-running rivalry, which dates back to 1908, but hasn't been renewed since 2008. The Bulldogs control the series 42-24-4.
Union travels to Wasatch in their 58th meeting; the Wasps have won four of the last five in the series to lead 40-16-1.
Payson and Carbon haven't faced off since 2003, but do so for the 43rd time! Since 1925, the Lions are 27-14-1 over the Dinos. Most of the previous games spanned the years from 1955-88.
Four of the five first-ever pairing are in 4A: Herriman at Murray and Westlake at Skyline in Region 7, and Timpanogos at Maple Mountain and Salem Hills at Timpview in Region 8. A non-region encounter finds Diamond Ranch visiting Monticello in 1A.
Other Game Notes:
Bountiful has captured seven straight over East going back to 2001, and 17 of the last 19, including a 21-0 shutout last year. The Braves cling to an 18-17-1 series lead. Before 1981, East was 15-1-1 against Bountiful.
Last season, Jordan ousted Cottonwood from the 5A tournament, 62-38. This year, with Jordan averaging nearly 32 points a game and the Colts scoring nearly 29, fans may get another high scoring shootout. However, the 'Diggers yield only 9 points a game while the Colts have outscored opponents just 173-172. Jordan is 4-1 against the Colts.
Northridge and Layton battle in their annual Sword Game – the Knights have taken home the trophy 14 times and the Lancers, just five.
Riverton and Lehi met just once – in 2009 – when the Silverwolves dominated 44-0.... Brighton is 15-0 vs. West Jordan; the two last met in 2004.... Granger and Taylorsville have split their last eight matches to help the Lancers maintain its 15-7 series edge.

In the weekly "why don't these neighbors play more often?" game, Olympus and Hillcrest tangle for just the fifth time even though they're just seven miles apart. They battled to a scoreless tie in 1962, the Titans claimed a 1984 Class 4A semifinal and they split in 2008 (Hillcrest) and 2009 (Oly).
Same might be said for West and Viewmont, separated by just 10 miles. They haven't squared off since 1982 although they met 15 times in the 19 seasons between 1964 and 1982. The Panthers won 11 of those 15, including the 1980 Class 3A championship.
Similarly, Clearfield and Woods Cross – 20 miles apart – haven't met since 1988 after annual matchups from 1981-88. The Falcons are 5-3 against the Wildcats.
Spanish Fork and North Sanpete meet for the fifth time, but the series started nearly a century ago, with two games in 1916. NS won the first, they tied in the second and then the Dons prevailed in 1938, 1951 and in 1956 to earn a 3-1-1 series edge.
Delta has won 11 straight over Juab going back to 1981.... Judge has taken the last four against Uintah and lead the series 12-5.
Kanab and Richfield haven't battled since 2004; the Cowboys own a three-game streak over the Wildcats and lead the series 8-4…. Millard and North Sevier last faced off in 2006; the Eagles have won 16 of the 19 encounters.
