Obituary: CLUNY, LUCILE RICHARDS

Lucile Richards Cluny1926 ~ 2011A truly remarkable sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully in her home with her family around her on September 30, 2011.Lucile Richards Cluny, was born 13 February, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lorin Lovern Richards and Florence Holbrook RichardsLucile graduated from East High School in 1943. She attended the University of Utah in the Cadet Nursing Program, fulfilled a New England States LDS Mission. Married William Howard Cluny in the Logan Temple, 28 July 1947 and had six children. She worked for her father in his dental office as a Dental Assistant, and later for her brother Lorin as a Podiatrist Assistant. She worked as secretary in the MTC in Salt Lake before it was moved to Provo and also worked for Clara's Wig shop.Active in the LDS Church as Stake Primary President, Sunday School teacher, Relief Society teacher and consultant for the ward and stake Family History Center. Fulfilled a Family History Mission in the London South Mission on the 1881 Census of Great Britain and the 1851 Census and the extraction program for over 20 years in Salt Lake Family History Center. Loved quilting and made over 200 quilts with the help of the her family and the Relief Society Sisters for the Primary Children's Hospital as well as for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also made many surgery dolls for the children at Primary Children's Hospital, wearing doctors scrubs.Lucile is a great example of service. Her favorite scripture is, Joshua 24:15 "...choose you this day whom ye will serve, ...but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." She will be remembered for her great service, wherever she was and we hope to be able to follow her great example.Preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Cluny, grandchildren: Andrea Kay Hollingworth, Corey Ross Blackham and her brother and sister. Survived by: Mary Ann (Ron) Blackham, Joylyn Cluny, Carolee Cluny, Rick (Kathy) Cluny, Kay (Jeff) Hollingworth, Renee (Andy) Nielsen and 23 Grandchildren and 21 Great-Grandchildren.Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends and family can visit Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens.
