Vai's View: Pac-12 membership comes with consequences for Mormons

Gee, that's a great message to send. Surely, that message will also find its way to homes of devout LDS kids who may not be interested in spending their Sundays in college playing sports. That could be problematic if the recruit shares his/her parents' values as so many do. That may cost you one or two key LDS recruits since BYU will use that to its advantage.

Dr. Hill, you're much smarter than I am and you have been an outstanding A.D., but I'd be careful with your LDS constituents, even the most die-hard.

Thousands of young men will be with their fathers on Saturday evening.

Sure, some will be at Rice-Eccles Stadium. They will also be a few blocks away at the Conference Center on North Temple. And tens of thousands more will be in chapels throughout Utah — really, all over the country and globally.

They'll be in white shirts and ties. And Kyle Whittingham and Larry Krystkowiak will be sitting in some of their homes within a year if not sooner.

I'd make sure they can explain Sunday games and playing home games on General Conference weekend when the Lord's prophets will be speaking directly to them.
