Two former University of Utah players hook up in the NFL as San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith (11) is hit by Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Jonathan Fanene during the 49ers win over the Bengals.

On the field

Denver OL Zane Beadles (Hillcrest HS/Utah) started at left guard and helped offense gain 232 yards in loss to Titans. According to the Denver Post, he has also started a charity program where he'll donate $250 for every pancake block recorded by the team's offensive line this season to a facility for people whose lives have been affected by cancer.

Washington QB John Beck (BYU) served as his team's backup QB in loss to Cowboys.

Arizona LB Stewart Bradley (Highland HS) started on defense and had five total tackles in loss to Seahawks. He also recorded a tackle in punt coverage.

Green Bay DB Jarrett Bush (Utah State) had a key sack, one tackle and a quarterback hurry in win over Bears.

Indianapolis WR Austin Collie (BYU) caught five passes for 29 yards in loss to Steelers.

Washington TE Chris Cooley (Logan HS/Utah State) had four receptions for 41 yards in loss to Cowboys, and moved up to 19th place in NFL career receptions by a tight end. He also lined up at fullback and rushed two times for 3 yards.

Miami DL John Denney (BYU) served as team's long snapper in loss to Browns.

Cincinnati DE Jonathan Fanene (Utah) started and had three tackles, two sacks, two quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery in loss to 49ers. It was the first two-sack game of his career.

Carolina OL Jordan Gross (Utah) started at left tackle and helped offense gain 265 yards in win over Jaguars.

Pittsburgh DL Chris Hoke (BYU) played as a reserve in win over Colts.

St. Louis LB Bryan Kehl (Brighton HS/BYU) played as a reserve in loss to Ravens.

Pittsburgh OL Chris Kemoeatu (Utah) started at left guard and helped offense gain 431 yards in win over Colts.

Baltimore DL Paul Kruger (Timpanogos HS/Utah) had two tackles and a quarterback hurry in win over Rams.

Arizona OL Deuce Lutui (Snow College) played as a reserve in loss to Seahawks.

Houston DB Brice McCain (Utah) played as a reserve in loss to Saints.

Seattle OL Paul McQuistan (Weber State) started at left guard and helped offense gain 293 yards in win over Cardinals. It was his first start since 2007.

Miami LB Koa Misi (Utah) played as a reserve and had two tackles in loss to Browns.
