Michael H. Donoso 1940 ~ 2011Michael passed away peacefully at his home in Salt Lake City on September 22, 2011. He was born August 21, 1940 in Alton, Illinois the son of Julius J. and Opal M. Donoso. Michael married Kathryn Seifert, later divorced. Married Valerie Guest.Mike was a graduate of East High School. He was an avid car collector (particularly Corvettes) and a big fan of anything automotive. His cars have appeared in numerous car shows, parades and races as well as a number of the movies that are filmed locally. He has been a long time member of numerous car clubs, most notably past president of the Corvette Club of Utah, The Italian Racing Team and The National Corvette Restores Society. He has also been a long time member of the International Footprinter Association and International Police Association. He was always an advocate for animals and gave many pets a good home over the years. Most remembered the legendary Mr. Snippers. Mike was always the "Class Clown" and will be greatly missed by the many who knew and loved him.Michael retired from the Salt Lake City-County Health Dept. where he was responsible for the enforcement of environmental laws and was the liaison officer between the Health Dept. and the county's law enforcement agencies. He served 39 years as a reserve police officer. Fourteen years with the Salt Lake City Police and 25 years with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office.Michael is survived by his wife Valerie of Salt lake City; daughter Mary Catherine Donoso-Winters; grandson Joshua R. Winters of West Jordan, Ut.; brother Dr. Larry A. Donoso of Philadelphia, Pa.; his beloved kitty Snickers; and cousin James Hawkins of Little Rock, Ak.A viewing will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2011, from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Followed by an evening funeral service at 7:00 PM. Following cremation his ashes will be interred at Mt. Olivet Cemetery next to his mother Opal.
