Here are some books that have crossed our desks recently.

"YOU ARE AN IRONMAN: How Six Weekend Warriors Chased Their Dream of Finishing the World's Toughest Triathlon," by Jacques Steinberg, Viking, $27.95, 204 pages (nf)

A New York Times reporter and author features six people pursing a goal of swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles and then run 26.2 miles in under 17 miles. Each has a unique story — from a businessman on the verge of a heart attack to a two mothers — as they train with triumphs and setbacks. Some cross the finish line and some don't.

"RIP TIDE,"by Stella Rimington (f): In this spy-thiller novel penned the by former director of the MI5, a pirate attack on a cargo ship off the coast of Somalia leaves MI5's Liz Carlyle and other agents unraveling why a British-born Pakistani was on the pirate skiff and connections between Pakistan, Greece and Somalia.
