DENVER — The number of travelers in the Mountain Region this Labor Day holiday weekend is expected to drop more than 2 percent over a year ago.

AAA says about 2.4 million travelers are expected to hit the road in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region. The region includes Colorado, Arizona, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.

The projected decline continues a summer long trend of declining travel compared to 2010.
