Was: 7. Last week: Beat Fremont, 19-12. Outlook: Most QBs never lead team on a game-winning drive in final minute, but Jordan freshman QB Austin Kafentzis did it in his first game. Next up: at Layton, Friday.

Was: 5. Last week: Tied with Brighton, 0-0. Outlook: It was really no surprise Davis was shutting out Brighton when game was canceled at halftime, but the lack of offense is a bit of concern. Next up: vs. Viewmont, Friday.

Was: 8. Last week: Beat West, 44-14. Outlook: For those who doubted whether the 4A champs have enough talent back to repeat, a 30-point win over West seems rather convincing. Next up: at Cedar, Friday.

Class: 4A

Was: 9. Last week: Beat Provo, 31-14. Outlook: In its first game in the post-Kuresa era, the Mustangs' defense stole the show with a dominating performance. Next up: at Lone Peak, Friday.

Class: 5A

Was: 10. Last week: Beat Westlake, 36-13. Outlook: The defense looked sharp at Westlake, but it faces a huge test against high-scoring Logan this week. Next up: vs. Logan, Friday.

Was: 6. Last week: Lost to Alta, 35-14. Outlook: Had Alta on the ropes early leading 14-0, but offense fizzled out the rest of the game. Next up: vs. Westlake, Friday.

Was: 14. Last week: Beat Sky View, 30-13. Outlook: The Knights traditionally get off to a good start, and this season is no different following a convincing win over Sky View. Next up: at Olympus, Friday.

Was: 13. Last week: Beat Hillcrest, 40-29. Outlook: Lost the bulk of its starters from last year, and it showed a bit as it let Hillcrest hang around for most of the game. Next up: vs. Herriman, Saturday.

Class: 3A

Was: 15. Last week: Beat Salem Hills, 21-0. Outlook: It took the offense a while to get going in the opener, but the defense was as dominant as ever. Next up: at Manti, Friday.

Was: 17. Last week: Beat Skyline, 33-14. Outlook: There's nothing surprising about Hurricane beating Skyline anymore; the Tigers are a great program. Next up: vs. West Jordan, Friday.

Was: 19. Last week: Beat Pine View, 35-27. Outlook: Earned a very impressive road victory at Pine View, a team that will compete for the 3A state title. Next up: at Orem, Friday.

Was: 18. Last week: Beat Desert Hills, 14-12. Outlook: Known for their defense, the Titans eked out a low-scoring victory in St. George to open the season. Next up: vs. Skyline, Friday.

Was: 24. Last week: Beat Bear River, 49-14. Outlook: DJ Nelson's dominant opener probably reminded Logan fans of his older brother's dominance not that long ago. Next up: at Cottonwood, Friday.

Was: -. Last week: Beat Springville, 41-35. Outlook: Victory at Springville was the surprise result of the opening weekend, but many more could easily follow. Next up: vs. River Valley, Ariz., Friday.

Was: 25. Last week: Beat Woods Cross, 27-24 in overtime. Outlook: Struggled early against Woods Cross, but showed great resolve to rally for the win in overtime. Next up: at Davis, Friday.

Was: 12. Last week: Lost to Dixie, 41-35. Outlook: The Red Devils wanted to become a tougher team this season, but they obviously still have a lot of work to do. Next up: at Spanish Fork, Friday.

Was: 20. Last week: Lost to East, 35-27. Outlook: Had no problem moving the ball on the ground in season-opening loss to East, but the passing game was spotty at best. Next up: at Desert Pines, Nev., Friday.

Was: -. Last week: Beat Cedar, 33-0. Outlook: The Cavemen flew under the radar a bit in the preseason, but shutting out Cedar in the opener was a nice start. Next up: at Timpanogos, Friday.

Was: -. Last week: Beat Weber, 41-0. Outlook: The Bees flexed their muscles in the opener and sent a message to the rest of Region 5 that they're for real. Next up: at Clearfield, Friday.

Was: -. Last week: Beat Kearns, 13-10. Outlook: The offense needs some work, but the kicking game is in great shape as Trevor Ward booted two clutch field goals. Next up: vs. Hunter, Friday.
