Because of the NBA lockout, no one knows when former BYU superstar Jimmer Fredette will play his first game for the Sacramento Kings.
But the reigning consensus national player of the year will play in his inaugural professional games in Utah.
Fredette is set to participate in "Jimmer's All-Stars Presented by Zions Bank," which consists of two exhibition games — one at the Maverik Center on Sept. 21 and the other at the Marriott Center on Sept. 22.
"I'm really looking forward to making my debut as a professional in front of the fans who have so passionately supported me during my time at BYU," Fredette said in a statement. "This will be a fun opportunity to bring some other NBA draftees to Utah for the chance to play competitive basketball. I hope the community gets as excited for these games as I am."
The other participants on the two All-Star teams will feature several top players who were selected in last June's NBA draft. BYU coach Dave Rose will coach Fredette's team, while San Diego State coach Steve Fisher will coach the other squad. The rosters for both teams will be chosen in a draft style and will be announced in September.
Both games will tip off at 7 p.m.
Tickets for both games are on sale now at the respective venue's box offices, websites or by phone (Maverik Center — 3200 South Decker Lake Dr. West Valley City, Utah 84119; www.maverikcenter.com or 1-800-745-3000; Marriott Center — 500 E. Yo Johnny... do you think he's more "desperate" for a paycheck (and I suspect the way you said it you meant to be insulting, but hope you understand everyone needs income unless they're a Democrat and are living off someone else)... or is More..
Sounds like someone's getting deperate for a paycheck!
I'm on the side of Johnny Triumph on this one. Jimmer had a basketball clinic for young kids last month, dubbed it as though he'd be there all week, and really didn't make many appearances. He had others provide the training and he put his name on More..
