Alexi Amarista's insider HR leads Salt Lake Bees to win over Colorado Springs Sky Sox
COLORADO SPRINGS — Alexi Amarista legged out the Bees' third inside-the-park home run of the season, as Salt Lake edged the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 6-5 Sunday afternoon.
The game was tied 3-3 in the sixth when Gil Velazquez led off with a double, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Kevin Richardson and scored on a sac fly by Freddy Sandoval to put the Bees in front. On an 0-2 pitch, Sky Sox outfielder Scott Beerer tried to make a shoestring catch on Amarista's sinking liner, but it skipped by him and rolled all of the way to the fence as Amarista circled the bases.
Tyler Chatwood (1-1) picked up the win, as he went six innings and allowed four runs on nine hits with two walks and one strikeout. Jeremy Berg retired all six batters he faced and Michael Kohn gave up a run, but held the lead to record his 11th save of the season.
Amarista led the Bees with two hits and two runs batted in, while Efren Navarro and Velazquez each added two hits and one RBI as all nine members of the Salt Lake starting lineup had at least one hit in the game.
