Salt Lake Bees lose 6th straight

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. — A run scoring single by Matt Macri in the bottom of the 10th inning gave the Colorado Springs Sky Sox a 5-4 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Saturday night.

Willy Taveras led off the 10th with an infield single and one out later, moved to second on a single by Jorge Cantu. Matt Meyer (1-1) walked Jesus Merchan to load the bases and after he struck out Joe Mather, Macri lined a 2-0 pitch off the left field wall to bring home the winning run.

Salt Lake had a chance to take the lead in the top of the ninth after a lead-off double by Andrew Romine, but he was left stranded at third when Jeremy Moore struck out and Efren Navarro ground out.

Romine led the Bees with three hits and one run batted in, while Moore and Navarro each had two hits for Salt Lake, which has now lost six consecutive games.

Bees' pitcher Anthony Ortega faced six batters in the eighth and ninth innings and fanned all six.

Top performance: Andrew Romine had three hits and an RBI for the Bees.

Record: 57-71
