Utah Little League team eliminated in West Regional semifinals

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Washington City's Little League team lost 5-0 to Southern California (Ocean View) on Friday night in the second West Regional semifinal.

Weston Sampson and Jarod Stirling both hit singles to lead Utah. Starting pitcher Seth Corry struck out 10 batters in the loss.

The game, which was televised on ESPN2, was scoreless until the fourth inning when Ocean View pitcher Braydon Salzman hit a two-RBI triple.

Salzman also hit a RBI double in the sixth inning to help extend the Southern Californians' lead from 2-0 to 5-0. Salzman was also nearly unhittable on the mound, striking out 11 Utah batters in a complete game.

Ocean View (5-0) faces Northern California (Red Bluff) (3-2) on Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

Utah (2-3) finishes their remarkable run in the regional tournament.
