Bette Louise Swertfager Jensen 1920 ~ 2011

Bette Louise Swertfager Jensen, age 91, died July 21, 2011. She was born May 21, 1920 in SLC, Utah.Parents were Vera Stewart Swertfager and William Henry Swertfager. Her stepfather was Ernest "Hal" Morgan. She attended East High School and graduated from LDS Business College. She married Jack Naylor Jensen on April 9, 1939. Later sealed in the Manti Temple. She is survived by her children, Gary Morgan Jensen (Susan) and Linda Gail Jensen Nelson (Gregory), six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also survived by her many nieces and nephews all of whom adored her. Grandchildren include Mark Nelson (Melinda), James Nelson (Fabiola), Sheryl Nelson, Derek Jensen (Mina), Kurt Jenson (Nicole) and Lisa Jensen. She was preceded in death by her sisters Ruth Adele Swertfager Michelsen, Marion Esther Swertfager Panaretos and her brother John William Morgan. Also preceded in death by sister-in-law, June Thomas Nielson. She worked at US Steel and Wasatch Chemical in Salt Lake City. She also worked for PE Ashton Co., Press Publishing Co. and Press Publishing, Ltd. She was a member of the LDS Church, Provo Bonneville 5th Ward. She was active in PTA, bridge groups and with her special group of friends in Phile Nada. Bette made beautiful draped porcelain, ceramic dolls and figurines. She sewed beautiful clothing and created beautiful quilts to share. She loved to garden and passed her skills to her family. Make over, make do, or do without was her motto. Bette was the glue that held our family together. Her July 4th reunions were legendary. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 30 at 11:00 a.m. in Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E 800 N, Orem, Utah.
